Every now and then, we witness changes in blogging community. Here’s a quick review of two novelties I found reading blogs.
Peel away ads
John Chow wrote a post about these ads and even put one on his blog. Peel away ads sit in your top right or left corner of the blog. They’re visible by small image called “teaser” which is 100×100 pixels in size. When you move mouse cursor over it, ad expands like a page in a book to 500×500 pixels.
The Peel Away Ads script was created by Richard Osterude and Harris Fellman. You’ll have to buy the script ($127) in order to put it on your blog. I don’t know why you must pay for an ad script. There are many different ads on the market and I don’t know why should I pay for it. Just because they’re new? I think it won’t be long until someone offers Peel Away Ads for free.
I’ve seen this effect long time ago and I liked it a lot. I guess blogging community needed some time to figure it out it can be used for ads.
Video comments
Video comments is a plugin created by Colin Devroe from Viddler.com. With Video comments readers can easily record and post a video comment on your blog. It’s a pretty nice idea and I hope it’ll succeed. I saw these Video comments on Matt Brett’s blog.

Actually at this moment script costs only 37$. And if you take in consideration that ads are not intrusive and that people are getting great results from them i think it’s a no brainer.
We all developed an text-ad blindness so anything new in worth considering.
The only problem is that advertisers have to get their ads developed for Peel Away ads. If i remember correctly that costs you a 75$ so it’s only for long-term campaigns.
